Chat with people in Toronto
Toronto has millions of people and it can still feel hard to just talk to someone. Always Somebody matches you with a real person near you first, so when someone in the city or the GTA is online, they're who you meet first. Somebody who knows what the 401 is like at five o'clock.
Who counts as "near"
Our first search reaches about 100 km, which from downtown covers the whole GTA and beyond: Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Pickering, Ajax, Oshawa, Hamilton and Barrie. If nobody is free that close, the search widens to the rest of Ontario (or anyone within about 600 km), then Canada (or anyone within about 2,500 km), then the world.
Someone nearby sees that you're "close by" and in Ontario. Never your neighbourhood, street or exact location.
Things people talk about
Add interests before you start and we'll try to match you with somebody who shares them. A few ideas: the Leafs, the Raptors and the Jays, the TTC, where to eat, what's on this weekend, moving to the city, or just how your day went.
Keep in touch with the good ones
If you both tap Save, you become friends and can message each other later. Whether you ever meet in person is up to you. Take the usual care with anyone you met online: meet in a public place and tell a friend where you're going.
The basics
- Free text chat, no sign-up, email or phone number.
- Adults only, 18 and over.
- Chats with strangers aren't stored.
- Report and Block are always one tap away. The help page has 988 and other numbers if you need to talk to someone right now.
Best time to chat
Always Somebody is new and still growing. Evenings are busiest. If nobody is free, Sunny, our AI, can keep you company while you wait. Sunny is always labelled as an AI, and you stay in line for a real person.
