Privacy policy

Short version: we keep as little as we can. You don't give us a name, email or phone number to chat. Chats with strangers aren't stored.

What we keep

• A random code for your browser. Your browser makes it and keeps it. We store a scrambled (hashed) version so we can recognise you again for friends, blocks and reports.
• Your rough location, which our hosting provider works out from your internet connection: city, province or state, and country. We use it to match you with people nearby. Other people only ever see your province or state and country.
• A scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to enforce bans.
• Safety records: who blocked or reported whom, the reason picked, and when. Reports are kept for 60 days.
• Friends: who saved each other, the optional name you choose to show friends, and messages between friends. Friend messages are deleted after 90 days.
• Visit counts: which days your browser code visited, so we can tell whether people come back. Kept for about a year.

What we don't keep

• Messages in chats with strangers. They pass through our server to the other person and are not saved.
• Chats with Sunny, our AI. While you chat, your recent messages to Sunny (with your province or state, country and interests) go to Cloudflare's AI service to write Sunny's replies. They are not saved once the chat ends.
• Your exact location, your name, email or phone number.
• Advertising or tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage only for your code, your settings and your interests.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes traffic for us and runs the AI model behind Sunny. We may share information with the police or other authorities when the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm, especially a child.

Your choices

• Remove a friend at any time. You'll stop seeing each other's messages.
• Clear your browser's data for this site to drop your code and start fresh. Bans tied to your connection still apply until they end.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
