An Omegle alternative with text only and no sign-up
A lot of people liked Omegle's text mode and hated its camera. If what you want is the text half, with no account and no webcam, this page is for you: what Always Somebody does the same, what it leaves out on purpose, and how to be talking to somebody in about ten seconds.
Text only, really
- No video, ever. There is no camera button to press by accident and no stranger's camera to worry about. Chats are words on a screen.
- Voice is optional and mutual. If a conversation is going well, either of you can ask for a voice call. It only starts when the other person says yes, and neither of you sees the other's IP address. Say no and it stays text.
- Works on a phone, quietly. Text chat needs no permissions and no good light. You can do it on the bus or in bed.
No sign-up, really
No email, no phone number, no password, no profile to fill in. Tap Start talking and you're in. Everyone appears as "Somebody" unless they choose a name to show. If you like somebody and both of you tap Save, you become friends and can message later; that works without an account too, because a random ID in your browser remembers your friends. An email address is optional, only if you want to be told when a friend writes.
What Omegle's text mode never had
- Near you first. We look for somebody in your area, then your province or state, then your country, then the world. Choose Anywhere to skip straight to the whole world.
- Translation as you type. Every message is translated when it is sent. You write in English, the other person reads it in Spanish or Tagalog, and their reply comes back to you in English. On Omegle, a different language was the end of the chat.
- Save. A good conversation doesn't have to vanish when the chat ends. If you both tap Save you can find each other again.
- Reports that do something. When several different people report someone, that person is kept apart from everyone and then paused. Omegle's biggest problem was that nothing happened when you reported.
- Adults only. Always Somebody is for people 18 and over, which is a big part of why it can be text with strangers and still be decent.
Ten seconds, start to hello
- Open alwayssomebody.com and tap Start talking.
- You are matched with one real person. An icebreaker question is waiting if you want it.
- Type. Tap Next for somebody new, Save for somebody you want to keep.
Nobody free right now?
The site is new, so some hours are quiet. If nobody is available after a few seconds you can chat with Sunny while you wait. Sunny is an AI and is always labelled as one. You stay in line, and we switch you to a real person the moment somebody is free.
What is kept
Chats with strangers aren't stored and disappear when the chat ends, unless you both tap Save. Links aren't clickable, on purpose. The privacy policy lists everything that is kept and for how long.
