Who counts as "near"
The first search reaches about 100 km from you: all of Calgary plus Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks, High River, Strathmore and out toward Canmore.
If nobody that close is free, it widens to the rest of Alberta (or anyone within about 600 km, which reaches Edmonton, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Kelowna and Saskatoon), then Canada (or anyone within about 2,500 km), then the world.
People see that you're in Alberta, or your city if you choose to show it. Never your neighbourhood or street.
Text, voice, and the globe
Type, or tap Voice to talk out loud. A call only starts when you both tap it, and nothing is recorded. On the home page, tap the gold dot over Calgary to ask somebody there to chat. If you click with somebody, you both tap Save and can message each other later.

Best time to chat
