Chat with people in Montreal
Always Somebody pairs you with one real person at a time and looks around Montreal first, so the person you meet knows what the Décarie is like and has an opinion on bagels.
Who counts as "near"
The first search reaches about 100 km from you: the island, Laval, Longueuil and the South Shore, Saint-Jérôme, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Vaudreuil, Valleyfield and Granby.
If nobody that close is free, it widens to the rest of Quebec (or anyone within about 600 km, which takes in Ottawa, Quebec City, Toronto and Vermont), then Canada (or anyone within about 2,500 km), then the world.
People see that you're in Quebec, or your city if you choose to show it. Never your neighbourhood or street.
English or French
The site itself is in English for now, but what you write is up to you. Say bonjour and see where it goes.
Text, voice, and the globe
Type, or tap Voice to talk out loud. A call only starts when you both tap it, and nothing is recorded. On the home page, tap the gold dot over Montreal to ask somebody there to chat. If you click with somebody, you both tap Save and can message each other later.
The basics
- Free, no sign-up, email or phone number.
- Adults only, 18 and over.
- Chats with strangers aren't stored.
- Report and Block are always one tap away. The help page has 988 and other numbers if you need to talk to someone right now.
Best time to chat
Chat hour is every night at 9 pm, Montreal time: that’s when the most people are on. If nobody is free, Sunny, our AI, keeps you company until a real person turns up. Sunny is always labelled as an AI.
